Question: Request for "all correspondence since January 1, 2007, between the Department and officials at Buckingham Palace in relation to the issue of funding for the maintenence of the Palace". Case number 97840
In response: The Department provides grant-in-aid for the collective upkeep of the Occupied Royal Palaces, but we are not responsible for decisions on allocating maintenance funds to individual palaces in England; the Property Services Section of the Royal Household is responsible for the detailed decisions on how to use the grant.
You may wish to see the Royal Household's annual report on the Royal public finances, which includes the property services grant-in-aid. This provides an account of maintenance projects for Palaces, including Buckingham Palace. The 2006-07 and 2007-2008 reports are available on the British Monarchy website.
