The government response and a summary of the responses received to this consultation was published on 14 February 2012.
This consultation seeked comments on proposals to introduce new regulations for the Royal Parks land in the vicinity of Parliament Square.
The proposed regulations will mirror the seizure powers introduced by the 2011 act providing a consistent approach to the Parliament Square area.
We are committed to restoring rights to non-violent protest. We are also committed to ensuring that everyone can enjoy our public spaces and to dealing with the harm caused by encampments and other disruptive activities in and around Parliament Square
We have demonstrated our commitment to peaceful protest by repealing sections of 132-136 Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, which unnecessarily infringed on this important right. Alongside this the we have introduced legislation, Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, to strengthen seizure powers in relation to offences in Parliament Square.
This consultation is seeking your comments on proposals to introduce new regulations for the Royal Parks land in the vicinity of Parliament Square. The proposed regulations will mirror the seizure powers introduced by the 2011 act providing a consistent approach to the Parliament Square area.
