Royal Armouries Chair appointment
Ed Vaizey, Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, has appointed Wesley Irwin Paul as Chair of the Royal Armouries.
Ed Vaizey, Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, has appointed Wesley Irwin Paul as Chair of the Royal Armouries. His first term will run from 3 January 2012 to 2 January 2016.
Wesley has an extensive global financial background with over 35 years in the industry and has lived and worked in London, New York and Hong Kong; he has held senior roles including Managing Director and Global Head of Investments at J.P Morgan and is currently Chairman of a private equity and financing firm specialising in identifying innovative and breakthrough technologies in the security sector.
Wesley is a keen art collector, especially antique arms and armour and has developed a strong interest in museums and how they connect to their target audiences. He has led a project to develop an Earth Sciences Museum for the UAE. He is currently working to raise finances for several charities and sits on the Boards of several start-up companies around the globe.

The Royal Armouries is home to the United Kingdom’s national collection of arms and armour, including artillery. As a museum the Trustees have a duty of care for these objects, to keep them, study them and increase our knowledge of them, so that this can be passed to future generations along with the objects themselves.
