Closer cultural ties for the UK and India

A new agreement to boost cultural activity between the UK and India was signed today.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Memorandum of Understanding builds on the countries’ strong cultural ties and will develop an extensive cultural exchange programme.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Jawhar Sircar from the Indian Ministry of Culture signed the agreement in Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister David Cameron and the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Jeremy Hunt said: “This agreement will lead to a fantastic array of cultural activity over the coming years.”
