DCMS/Wolfson: a public-private partnership
New publication looks back at eight years of investment in museums and galleries.
What do tanks, shrunken heads, longbows and scent bottles have in common? They’ve all received new homes thanks to the unique DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries improvement fund.
A new record, published today, details £28 million of funding that has gone towards museums and galleries across the country to make capital improvements to their displays, enhance their educational facilities and provide greater accessibility to visitors over the last eight years.
Match funding
Speaking at the Museums Association conference today, Culture Minister Ed Vaizey paid tribute to the collaboration, calling the fund “an excellent example of what can be achieved when public funds are matched with private philanthropy.”
Earlier this year, we announced a commitment of £4 million toward an £8 million fund that will see the DCMS/Wolfson partnership continue until at least 2015.
