Gambling Act 2005 - (Gaming Machines) (Definitions) Regulations 2007

Under section 235(f) of the Gambling Act 2005, the Government is required to make regulations to assign the meaning of 'dual-use' computer and 'domestic computer' to ensure that such computers (which are not dedicated or specifically configured for gambling activities) are not treated as gambling machines, unless they are used by commercial enterprises as a means to enable persons to gamble and sidestep the gambling regulatory regime.

The Gambling Act 2005 (Gaming Machines)(Definitions) Regulations 2007 define the meaning of dual-use and domestic computers, as amended in light of consultation. In light of the issues emerging from the consultation process, the Regulatory Impact Assessment sets out the Government's preferred option as set out in the published Regulations.
