Digital Britain White Paper: Update 30 June 2009 - Actions and implementations

Following publication of the Digital Britain White Paper on 16 June, we are today publishing an update note on implementation, with a number of accompanying documents.

This note follows on from the publication of the Government's Draft Legislative Programme for 2009-2010 which sets out details of the Digital Economy Bill. This update focuses on implementing actions which do not require Primary Legislation, including:

  • Driving digital inclusion and participation
  • Consultation on the use of a contained contestable element of the television licence fee for sustainable, independent and impartial news in the Nations, locally and in the regions
  • Next steps on Delivering the Broadband Universal Service
    Commitment
  • Next Generation Mobile and Spectrum Liberalisation
  • Digital Radio Upgrade
  • Next Generation Digital Test Beds
  • Building the evidence base for a culturally-based tax relief for
    video games; and
  • Updating the statutory remit for C4 Corporation.
