press and privacy

The Government supports a free and responsible press as one of the cornerstones of democracy; DCMS keeps a watching brief on press conduct to ensure that self- regulation is working as it should.

The Press Complaints Commission administers a Code of Practice, which has been established to ensure effective self-regulation.

Code of Practice
Amongst other things, the Code covers accuracy, privacy and harassment. The Government expects the press to abide by the Code's rules and commitments.

Full details of the Code and information on how to make a complaint can be found on the Press Complaints Commission's website.
