wembley stadium

The construction and operation of the new national stadium at Wembley is the responsibility of Wembley National Stadium Ltd (WNSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Football Association.

The new all-seater stadium has a capacity of 90,000 and can be used for a wide range of sporting events including football, rugby, athletics as well as music and other cultural events.

The stadium was designed by the World Stadium Team – a unique partnership between HOK Sport and Foster & Partners, formed specifically to design the new stadium – and was officially opened on Saturday 19 May 2007 with the FA cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United.

As well as regularly hosting annual events, Wembley Stadium will be the venue for the men’s and women’s football finals for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
